Dr Brendan Cranney
MBBS(Hons), FRANZCR

Brendan graduated with Honours from the University of New South Wales in 1984. After spending his initial hospital years at St George, he decided to do two years of training in Anaesthetics and Intensive Care. An interest in Radiology was kindled, whereupon he changed course, completing his Radiology training at the Royal Canberra and Woden Valley Hospitals in the ACT, and at Royal Prince Alfred in Sydney where he held a Senior Registrar position.

As a Radiologist, he has been a Member of the College Council, and is a member of the Australian Society for Ultrasound Medicine. He has held VMO positions in the ACT and Southeastern New South Wales Breast Screening Service both as a General Radiologist and as Chief Radiologist. He has been Past Chair of the Division of Imaging at Calvary Hospital in the ACT where he is a VMO.

The area in which Brendan has a main professional interest is Breast Imaging. CIG offers a comprehensive range of breast biopsy techniques including mammotome. Brendan also has an interest in percutaneous biopsy procedures and general body imaging.

Married 20 years, and with 3 children, Brendan's activities outside work consist mainly of outdoor family pursuits - camping, bushwalking, mountain bike riding, cross country skiing and being beaten at tennis by his sons. When indoors he has a keen interest in reading the history of World War II and being beaten at a game of Risk by his sons.
