Trainee sonographers
To be considered for our Trainee Sonographer Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a recognised undergraduate or higher degree in a relevant allied health field (e.g. medical imaging).
- Hold a Graduate Certificate of Medical Ultrasound (with eligibility to articulate into a Graduate Diploma of Medical Ultrasound), or equivalent, or higher.
- Have experience interacting with patients in a healthcare setting.
Terms and conditions
You will need to:
- successfully pass all university and Canberra Imaging assessments to maintain their employment and position within the program.
- be registered under Category 2A with the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR).
- remain enrolled in a Graduate Diploma course, or higher throughout the duration of the training program.
The program is a comprehensive full-time training program and cannot be completed on a part-time basis.
Following completion of the two-year paid traineeship, trainees are required to undertake a minimum three-year period of full-time employment with Canberra Imaging. This arrangement forms part of a Training Bond and Employment Contract.
Applications for our current trainee sonographer program are open. Applications must be submitted via SEEK. Intake for this round will begin mid-2026 or thereafter on a staggered basis.
University clinical placements
